... a wildlife photographer currently based in Brno, Czech Republic. My work brings together two lifelong interests – animals and art – and the questions that have long connected them for me: what do we choose to look at, what do we value, and why? My background in the preservation of cultural heritage has gradually evolved into a concern for the living world, increasingly shaped by the pressures it faces.

I am interested in how changing the way we look at something can change what we see in it. I look for the visual qualities inherent in the natural world, but also for ways of translating them into a different visual language – one that can isolate, transform or reduce, depending on what I want us to notice. The choices are deliberate: the visual language of an image is shaped by what I want the viewer to notice. Sometimes that may be something familiar seen differently; sometimes something we have overlooked altogether. I want my images to surprise, to make us pause, and to make the unfamiliar readable – or the familiar newly seen. Ultimately, this is also about making us look more closely at the living world, at a time when there is increasingly less of it to take for granted.
